Sustainable Cities and Communities

Kamphaeng Phet Rajabhat University (KPRU) manages its campus under the concept of a Green University, emphasizing the balance between human activity and the natural ecosystem. The campus is systematically zoned into green areas, building areas, sports facilities, and accommodation zones. Both the green and sports areas are open to the public free of charge, allowing community members to enjoy the university’s natural and recreational spaces.

In addition to implementing the Green Office initiative and providing free bicycles, KPRU has constructed covered walkways connecting buildings to encourage sustainable and eco-friendly commuting across campus.

Students and staff are also encouraged to walk as a primary means of transportation within the university. To support this policy, KPRU has developed well-connected footpaths between buildings, with covered sections to protect pedestrians from sun and rain—making walking both convenient and comfortable.

Sustainable Cities and Communities

The Plant Genetic Conservation Project Center, under the royal initiative of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, was established to develop personnel with knowledge in conserving and developing local plant or animal genetic resources. The centre has operated in response to His Majesty the King's initiative by establishing a centre for the study of nature and the environment, collection of local plants, and medicinal plants, including rare plants in Kamphaeng Phet Province and nearby provinces. The university has developed the botanical garden to be a source of learning for students and people in the community, a source for collecting local plant genetics for use in propagation and providing academic services to the public, and also creating a database system of local genetics. This centre has also created a walking path to explore the plants and ecosystems in the botanical garden, making it open and accessible at all times.
