Preventing Water System Pollution

Kamphaeng Phet Rajabhat University (KPRU) combines wastewater treatment with pollution prevention at source to prevent contaminated water from entering natural water systems. The university operates 12 wastewater treatment facilities: nine aerated treatment systems and three aerated treatment systems equipped with automatic chlorine dioxide disinfection.

Wastewater passes through screening, grease separation and sedimentation processes. A water wheel provides additional aeration in the campus pond to improve water quality before discharge beyond the university. These processes help control pollutants along the wastewater management route.

At the Faculty of Science and Technology, laboratory safety practices strictly prohibit the disposal of chemicals into sinks. Chemical waste must be separated and collected in designated containers, and personnel must follow established safety procedures. These source-control measures help prevent chemicals from entering wastewater drains and contaminating natural water systems.
