KPRU Enhances Readiness for Climate Action and Carbon Credit Management
KPRU Advances Carbon Credit and Climate Action Initiatives
On January 15, 2024, Assistant Professor Dr. Preeyanuch Prompaseat, President of Kamphaeng Phet Rajabhat University (KPRU), led a delegation to participate in the Human Resource Development Project on Climate Change Action and Carbon Credit Management in Universities and Communities. The meeting was held at the Academic Service Center, Chiang Mai University, and was attended by KPRU executives, academic staff, and environmental specialists.
The session served as a platform for knowledge exchange and capacity building, featuring presentations from experts of the Academic Service Center, Chiang Mai University, and members of the project working group. Key topics included provincial climate change planning, greenhouse gas (GHG) reporting systems, strategies toward carbon neutrality in academic activities, and institutional readiness for the Net Zero Pathway. Participants also joined discussion sessions on collaborative approaches and field visits to operational sites related to carbon credit management and PM2.5 monitoring systems.
During the meeting, Dr. Preeyanuch emphasized the importance of accelerating preparations for carbon footprint management both within the university and in partnership with surrounding communities. She also assigned the KPRU working group to develop strategies for establishing KPRU as a consulting and verification institution on carbon management at the organizational, municipal, and provincial levels in Kamphaeng Phet and Tak Provinces.
Through this engagement, KPRU reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability, climate resilience, and the pursuit of carbon-neutral operations in alignment with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)—particularly SDG 13 (Climate Action) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
