KPRU Strengthens Local Government Personnel’s Capacity in Carbon Assessment Technology to Support Low-Carbon City Development
Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions
Kamphaeng Phet Rajabhat University (KPRU) shares environmental knowledge and technology with local government personnel to support climate change initiatives. On 16 June 2025, the Office of Academic Services and Revenue Generation organised a practical workshop on using the Low Carbon City Platform to assess organisational carbon footprints. The workshop was held at Thong Kwao Meeting Room, Kamphaeng Phet Rajabhat University, and was presided over by Assistant Professor Dr Preeyanuch Prompasit, President of the University.
The training aimed to develop local officials’ skills in collecting activity data, recording energy consumption and waste management data, and calculating greenhouse gas emissions using the platform. The platform was developed by the Research Unit for Energy Management and Eco-efficiency at Chiang Mai University’s Multidisciplinary Research Institute and uses the assessment methodology of the Thailand Greenhouse Gas Management Organization. This training enabled participants to apply their knowledge to their organisations’ operations.
KPRU worked with an expert from the Kamphaeng Phet Provincial Office of Natural Resources and Environment to integrate environmental knowledge with practical digital skills. The activity strengthened local government personnel’s capacity to compile greenhouse gas emissions data, which can serve as a basis for environmental planning and low-carbon city development.
