Collaboration with Government Agencies on a Cassava Development Proposal for Provincial Planning

On 28 August 2023, Kamphaeng Phet Rajabhat University (KPRU), through its Office of Academic Services and Revenue Generation, held a workshop to review an integrated cassava utilisation proposal. Assistant Professor Dr. Preeyanuch Prompasit, Acting President and head of the provincial Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation operating unit, chaired the meeting.

Government participants included the provincial offices of agriculture, cooperatives, industry, commerce, and agriculture and cooperatives, alongside agricultural and private-sector representatives. Together, they developed a proposal to enhance high-value organic cassava varieties distinctive to Kamphaeng Phet throughout the value chain using the Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) Economy Model. Proposed activities covered variety development, soil and water management, Good Agricultural Practices (GAP), production and processing innovations, waste utilisation, and marketing.

KPRU was tasked with completing the proposal for submission to the joint public–private sector committee, seeking inclusion in the Kamphaeng Phet Provincial Development Plan 2023 – 2027, revised for fiscal year 2025, and requesting ministry funding. This activity demonstrates university–government cooperation in preparing a science, research and innovation proposal to inform provincial development planning.
